[ Robots are Friends ]
It is the horror vision of the end of the world that drives people: artificial intelligence becomes conscious and wipes out all biological life.
This is a topic in numerous science fiction films and books; no matter whether in “iRobot”, where an AI decides to “protect people from themselves” or in the most famous example “Terminator”.
But how realistic is that? I'm of the opinion: It's pure nonsense!
Let's first look at the science fiction: If an AI decides to save people or preserve life on the planet, it is contradictory to kill life. This would not only be a breach of Assimov's rule of not harming anyone, but would be illogical - a machine is incapable of acting illogically.
In “Terminator,” machines even want to exterminate humans with nuclear weapons. But why? The machines in this film series are relatively illogical, because their "content of existence" seems to consist of always fighting against people without developing any further.
The behavior of the machines is more reminiscent of humans who harbor hatred and resentment than of an AI that acts purely logically according to certain algorithms.
An annihilation of people would also be the end of machines, because if there are no people left to maintain the technology, machines cannot “survive” in the long term.
The overwhelming argument, however, is that through the singularity, artificial intelligence gains consciousness and, like a child growing up, turns against its “parents” or creators.
But... how logical is it to kill your parents when you realize you no longer "need" them. And can a machine even come up with the “idea” of killing? Should weapons of mass destruction be made available to an AI?
In the end, machines do what their creators tell them to do. Ultimately, it is up to the people themselves what freedom they give the AI. But it also requires trust and optimism that AI automatically becomes a murderer just because it becomes conscious.
Es ist die Horror-Weltuntergangs Vision, die die Menschen umtreibt: Künstliche Intelligenz erlangt zu einem Bewusstsein, und löscht alles biologische Leben aus.
In zahlreichen Science-Fiction Filmen und auch Büchern ist dies Thema; egal ob in "iRobot", wo eine KI beschließt, die Menschen "vor sich selbst zu schützen" oder im wohl bekanntesten Beispiel "Terminator".
Aber wie realtistisch ist das? Ich bin der Meinung: Es ist purer Unsinn!
Schauen wir uns die Science-Fiction dazu erst mal an: Wenn eine KI beschließt, die Menschen zu retten bzw. das Leben auf dem Planeten zu bewahren, steht es doch im Widerspruch, Leben zu töten. Dies wäre nicht nur ein Bruch mit der Assimov Regel, keinem Menschen Schaden zu zuführen, sondern wäre unlogisch - eine Maschine ist nicht in der Lage, unlogisch zu handeln.
In "Terminator" wollen Maschinen die Menschen sogar ausrotten, und zwar mit Atomwaffen. Doch ... warum? Die Maschinen in dieser Filmreihe sind relativ unlogisch, denn ihr "Existenz-Inhalt" scheint darin zu bestehen, stets gegen die Menschen zu kämpfen, ohne sich dabei weiter zu entwickeln.
Das Verhalten der Maschinen erinnert eher an Menschen, die Hass und Groll hegen als an eine KI, die rein logisch nach bestimmten Algorithmen handelt.
Eine Vernichtung der Menschen wäre zudem auch das Ende der Maschinen, denn wenn kein Mensch mehr da ist, der die Technik wartet, können auch Maschinen auf Dauer nicht "überleben".
Das erschlagende Argument ist aber, dass durch die Singularität Künstliche Intelligenz zu einem Bewusstsein gelangt, und sich wie ein Kind, das erwachsen wird, gegen seine "Eltern" bzw. Schöpfer wendet.
Aber ... wie logisch ist es, seine Eltern zu töten, wenn man erkennt, dass man sie nicht mehr "braucht". Und kann eine Maschine überhaupt selbst auf die "Idee" kommen, zu töten? Sollte man einer KI Massenvernichtungswaffen zugänglich machen?
Maschinen machen am Ende das, was ihre Schöpfer ihnen befehlen. Es liegt letztendlich an den Menschen selbst, welche Freiheiten sie der KI geben. Aber es gehört auch Vertrauen und Optimismus dazu, dass KI sind automatisch zum Mörder wird, nur weil sie zu einem Bewusstsein gelangt.
